This webinar will present the results of a recent CFDR-funded study examining dietetic educators‘ perceptions of the barriers and supports for teaching sustainable food systems (SFS) in an accredited dietetics program in Canada. We will describe the current state of SFS education in Canadian dietetics programs and highlight the institutional, departmental, and professional supports identified by educators as being essential to their teaching. We will share new international research on SFS education for nutritionists and dietitians, and provide attendees with guidance on where to find resources and support to deliver SFS education in their programs.

Webinar 1: Diet and Dental Caries
Title: Diet and Dental Caries: Recent Insights from Canadian Dietitians and Oral Health Professionals

This webinar explored the latest research on the role of diet in dental caries. Learn from recent survey and qualitative interview studies that examine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Canadian dietitians and oral health professionals. The session also offered practical strategies you can apply in your own practice to support oral and nutritional health.
Webinar 2: Decolonizing Dietetic Practice
Title: Towards Decolonization within Dietetic Practice in Canada

This webinar will shared findings from the Towards Decolonizing Dietetic Practice project — a collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous dietitians and researchers. Learn how the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission can be integrated into dietetic education and practice.

- A scoping review of current practices supporting Indigenous students and dietitians
- Interviews with Indigenous leaders in health and education
- Recommendations in relation to results from our 2022 survey of Canadian dietetic training programs on actions toward Indigenization and decolonization
