Our Board

Paula Brauer PhD, RD, FDC is a Professor Emerita at the University of Guelph. Her 25-year research career with colleagues has focused on efforts to promote vegetable and plant-based eating patterns among university students and in testing personalized diet approaches for   cardiometabolic risk conditions. She completed a BHEc at UBC and interned at Kingston General Hospital.  Her MSc from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) was followed by about 15 years working in acute and primary care in Alberta and Ontario before getting a doctorate in Epidemiology at U of Toronto. She was active in committee work to set up Family Health Teams in the 2000s and as a member of the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care 2010-15.  She has been a DC Board member, editor of the Journal, and a Ryley-Jeffs award winner.  She has been leading a 7-year project documenting the recent history of dietetics in Canada, which is wrapping up in 2026. She is thrilled to support the revitalization of CFDR as the premier agency supporting dietetic research.
