Marcia Cooper, PhD, RD, FDC

Marcia Cooper is a Research Scientist in the Bureau of Nutritional Sciences in the Food Directorate, Health Canada. She is also an adjunct professor in the Human Nutrition Department at St. Francis Xavier University. Dr. Cooper has a BASc in Nutrition from Ryerson University and holds a MSc and PhD in nutritional sciences from the University of Toronto. She did postdoctoral research in the area of iron bioavailability at Health Canada. Dr. Cooper is a registered dietitian and a member of Dietitians of Canada, the College of Dietitians of Ontario, the Canadian Nutrition Society and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dr. Cooper‘s research focus is in the area of Behavioural and Social Science Nutrition Research. She is currently conducting research related to nutrition labelling, course development, nutrition messages in the media, the role of food in the lives of dietitians and threshold levels for nutrition surveillance. In 2015, she became a Fellow of Dietitians of Canada.
